Loudoun County announced on Apr. 16 that it will host two pit stops in Leesburg and Sterling for Bike to Work Day, which takes place Friday, May 15, 2026. The annual event is free and encourages residents to bike to work by offering over 100 pit stops throughout the Washington Metropolitan area.
The event aims to promote a healthy and enjoyable way for people to commute. Registered participants can visit a pit stop along their route, collect a free T-shirt and giveaways, and enjoy refreshments before starting their workday.
Both Loudoun County pit stops are located adjacent to the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. The Leesburg location has changed this year; it will be at 215 Depot Court SE, across Harrison Street SE from the former Raflo Park site. The Sterling location remains at 183 Ruritan Road, just east of Route 28 behind Northrop Grumman. Both locations will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to register online before the event and are invited to share photos using #BTWD2026 on social media pages managed by Loudoun County.
Bike to Work Day is coordinated regionally by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and Commuter Connections, with local festivities organized by Loudoun County Transit and Commuter Services. The event is held rain or shine each year.
