The Loudoun County Department of Housing and Community Development is organizing a series of free online educational sessions to inform the public about fair housing law and protections against discrimination. The events are open to anyone involved in housing, including renters, buyers, realtors, property managers, builders, and financial advisers.
The virtual “lunch-and-learn” sessions will take place monthly on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with opportunities for participants to ask questions during the presentations. The schedule includes:
– October 22, 2025: A session focused on Domestic Violence Awareness will feature a representative from LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services. The presentation aims to inform residents and housing providers about fair housing protections related to domestic violence. Organizers note that domestic violence is a significant cause of homelessness and that many victims may not be aware of their rights regarding housing.
– November 12, 2025: The Homeless Youth Awareness session will discuss how homelessness affects children, teens, young adults—including LGBTQ+ youth—and outline the legal protections available under fair housing law.
– December 17, 2025: This event will address issues faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS in recognition of National HIV/AIDS Month and Universal Human Rights Awareness Month. It will cover the rights and protections provided by fair housing law for those experiencing housing instability due to HIV/AIDS.
“Anyone involved in housing as a current or potential renter, buyer, financial adviser, realtor, property manager or builder is encouraged to attend,” according to the Loudoun County Department of Housing and Community Development.
Attendance at these sessions is free and no registration is required. Additional details about joining the virtual meetings can be found at loudoun.gov/FairHousing.
People who need accommodations for disabilities or language assistance are asked to call 703-737-8323/TTY-711 at least three business days before an event.
