Loudoun County schedules electronics recycling collection for September 13 in Aldie

Loudoun County is organizing an electronics recycling event on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Dulles South (Stone Ridge II) Park and Ride located at 24281 Millstream Drive in Aldie.

Fees will apply for certain items, including televisions, computer monitors, and hard drive destruction services if requested. Payment must be made by credit card; cash and checks will not be accepted.

Accepted items include televisions, desktop computers, computer monitors, laptops, servers, circuit boards, hard drives, modems, printers, fax machines, scanners, copiers, network cables, power cables, extension cords, electrical wire, holiday lights, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), surge protectors, answering machines, microwave ovens, calculators, iPhones and smart phones, desk phones and pagers. Stereo and video receivers as well as DVR/CD/DVD/VHS players are also accepted. Video game consoles and related cables can be brought in along with stereo speakers and radios. Small household appliances such as vacuum cleaners or toaster ovens are allowed. Other small electronics like coffee makers or hair dryers may also be recycled.

There is a limit of five items per vehicle. A box measuring up to 12” x 12” x 12”, filled with smaller items such as computer mice or cameras, will count as one item.

Some electronics are not accepted at this event. These include large household appliances like refrigerators or stoves; dehumidifiers; air conditioners; washers and dryers; fluorescent light bulbs; smoke alarms; mercury thermostats; household batteries and vehicle batteries; ballasts; equipment containing chemicals or asbestos; radioactive components; liquid fuels; microwave glass plates; PCBs; aerosols; equipment containing mercury.

Hard drive destruction is available both on-site and off-site for a fee upon request.

The fees for the event are as follows: $30 per television (excluding console or projection TVs), $65 per console television or projection TV (defined as those with wooden consoles or paneling), $30 per computer monitor (laptop computers can be recycled free of charge), $8.50 per computer hard drive for on-site shredding if removed prior to the event ($21 if not removed), $13.50 per iPhone or tablet for on-site shredding upon request. CD/DVD shredding costs $1.50 per pound.
