The Loudoun County School Board announced on March 19 that it will hold a meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in the School Board Meeting Room at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administrative Offices, located at 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.
The meeting is open to the public, and both in-person and virtual comments will be accepted. The full agenda can be found on the School Board website under Meetings or through the Board Meetings & Documents link on the Loudoun County Public Schools webpage. Information about how to sign up to speak at the meeting or its committees is available on the Citizen Participation webpage.
Sign-up for public comment closes at noon on March 24. Walk-up registrations for in-person public comment will be accepted from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the Administrative Offices, with walk-up speakers added to the end of the in-person comment list. The list of pre-registered speakers will be posted at the front of the building and online about an hour before the meeting begins. Speakers must limit their remarks to a time set by the Chair based on attendance and agenda length.
Members of the public may view comments and attend the full meeting in person via admission through the west entrance of the Administrative Offices. Those eligible to address the board include county residents, local business representatives, taxpayers, current or former students, parents or guardians living outside Loudoun County with children enrolled in county schools, employees and retirees of Loudoun County Public Schools, as well as representatives from organizations serving school employees and students.
Safety protocols are in place for attendees entering the building. All persons and items are subject to search. Certain items such as large bags, backpacks, food, sticks or rods, lighters, aerosols, noise-making devices, voice-enhancement devices, mace or pepper spray, and weapons are not permitted inside; small purses are allowed within specified size limits. Water is permitted if carried in a soft-plastic container no larger than one liter per person.
Materials intended for board members should be submitted to staff prior to start time rather than handed directly to board members during proceedings. Attendees may take photos or record video; these images may become part of public records or media coverage. The meeting will also be live-streamed on both standard definition (Verizon FIOS channel 43) and high definition (Comcast channel 1070), as well as streamed online via LCPS’s webpage.
