The Loudoun County School Board has scheduled a meeting for 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices in Ashburn. The agenda for the meeting will be available on the School Board website under the Meetings section by approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9. The agenda can also be accessed through the Board Meetings & Documents link on the LCPS webpage.

Both in-person and virtual public comments will be accepted during this meeting. Information about how to sign up to speak at School Board meetings or its committees is available on the Citizen Participation webpage.

Sign-up for public comment closes at noon on Tuesday, January 13. Walk-up registrations for in-person comments will be accepted from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the LCPS Administrative Offices for those who have not pre-registered. Walk-up speakers will be added to the end of the in-person comment list.

The list of pre-registered speakers will be posted at the front of the building and on the school division’s website about an hour before the meeting begins. Speakers are required to limit their remarks to a time set by the Chair, which is determined based on the number of speakers and items on the agenda.

Members of the public can view public comments and attend the full meeting in person in the School Board Meeting Room. Admission will be through the west entrance of the Administrative Offices.

Eligibility to address the School Board includes residents of Loudoun County (including incorporated towns), businesses located wholly or partly within Loudoun County, county taxpayers, current or former LCPS students, parents and guardians of LCPS students living outside Loudoun County, LCPS employees and retirees, as well as representatives from organizations serving LCPS employees and students.

Security protocols require all persons and items entering the building to undergo search procedures. Certain items are prohibited inside, including large bags or purses (only those measuring 8 inches-by-11-inches-by-2 inches or smaller are allowed), backpacks, food, sticks or rods, lighters and matches, aerosols, noise-making devices, voice-enhancement devices, mace or pepper spray, and weapons of any kind. Each attendee may bring one soft-plastic water container no larger than one liter.

Those wishing to present materials to School Board members must submit them to either the Public Information Officer or their designee prior to the start of proceedings; materials must be hand-carried without boxes or bags and cannot be delivered directly to board members during sessions.

Photography and recording are permitted during meetings; such images may become part of public records or media coverage. The session will also be live-streamed via the LCPS webpage and broadcast in standard definition on Verizon FIOS channel 43 as well as in high definition on Comcast channel 1070.
