The Loudoun County School Board convened on February 10, 2026, at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administrative Offices in Ashburn. All board members were present for the meeting.

During the session, the board approved proclamations recognizing Black History Month and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Week.

The Loudoun Education Foundation (LEF), a nonprofit organization established by the school board, presented an update on its recent achievements and initiatives. LEF raises over $3 million annually through community donations to support local education efforts.

A work session provided updates on the ongoing implementation of a cloud-based SaaS ERP system designed to modernize district operations. The Department of Digital Innovation is leading this project with Oracle Fusion, TimeClock Plus, and IBM as partners. The rollout is structured in five phases, with Finance and School Activity Funds expected to go live in July 2027 and full completion scheduled for October 2028.

The Tuscarora High School Chorus led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. The board recognized several fall sports teams, including LCPS Middle School Intramural Flag Football Champions and VHSL State Champions from across the division. Heritage High School’s Work-Based Learning program was featured in the One LCPS Spotlight segment.

Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence highlighted several topics in his report: appreciation for transportation staff’s snow removal efforts, acknowledgment of Job for a Day partners at a Thank You Breakfast event, and a reminder about the upcoming United for Wellness Mental Health and Resource Fair.

Community members participated both virtually and in person during public comment to address various issues.

The board approved adjustments within its Capital Improvement Plan to allocate additional funding for renovation projects at Waterford Elementary School, Valley Service Center/Woodgrove Bus Parking Lot, and Banneker Elementary School.

Information items included an academic department report on action plans for targeted support schools; a financial review from business services covering the second quarter of fiscal year 2026; an update from support services regarding naming procedures for a new high school (HS-14); and discussions on Policy 2310 (Committees of the School Board) as well as Policy 3410 (Office of the Auditor General).

Board member Amy Riccardi requested that Board Member Comments and Committee Reports be moved earlier on future agendas so they follow public comments. Chair April Chandler agreed to consider this suggestion at an upcoming retreat scheduled for February 18.

Vice Chair Anne Donohue proposed suspending rules to vote on her proclamation declaring February 11 as Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. The motion passed with eight votes in favor; Deana Griffiths abstained.

Riccardi also asked about next steps following recent discussions with county supervisors regarding placing school resource officers (SROs) in all elementary schools. Superintendent Dr. Spence stated he would continue conversations with the Sheriff’s Office before updating the board so it can respond by deadline to county supervisors.
