The Loudoun County School Board convened on October 14, 2025, at the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Administrative Offices in Ashburn. All board members, including Chair Melinda Mansfield and Vice Chair Anne Donohue, were present.
During the meeting, the Loudoun Education Alliance of Families (LEAF) Advisory Committee provided an update as requested by the Board.
The Office of the Ombuds presented its annual report, summarizing data from constituent contacts between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. The report identified key observations for the year and outlined focus areas for the upcoming school year.
A financial review covering activity from June through September 2025 was delivered to the Board. This first-quarter report included a projection for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Staff also updated the Board on efforts to develop the fiscal year 2027 budget. Feedback from Board members was requested to help set strategic priorities for future budget initiatives.
The meeting included a recess before resuming with a performance of the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem by the Park View High School Marching Band.
Student School Board Representative David Olorunda from Riverside High School addressed the Board with comments.
Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence highlighted several developments in his report: River Bend Middle School hosted its first Family Feedback Circle; LCPS achieved a #4 ranking among Virginia school divisions on Niche; and October 24 will mark the second annual Workforce Summit focused on building partnerships.
Community members participated both virtually and in person during the public comment period, raising various topics with the Board.
The Board took action on two items: awarding IFB #I26016 for Stream Mitigation Credits related to High School #14 and deleting Policy 2320 (School Health Advisory Board), as its content has been incorporated into Policy 2310 (Committees of the School Board).
Information items discussed included a draft Division-Wide Literacy Plan policy intended to comply with the Virginia Literacy Act. Following these discussions, the Board entered into a closed session.
Board members provided comments and committee updates before concluding with no new business introduced.
