Loudoun County to hold electronics recycling event October 18 in Leesburg

Loudoun County is organizing an electronics recycling event on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Leesburg Park and Ride, located at 41951 Gourley Transit Drive in Leesburg. There will be fees for recycling televisions, computer monitors, and for hard drive destruction services if requested.

Accepted items include televisions, desktop computers, computer monitors, laptops, servers, mainframes, circuit boards, hard drives, modems, printers, fax machines, scanners, copiers, network cables, power cables, extension cords, electrical wire, holiday lights, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), surge protectors, answering machines, microwave ovens, calculators, iPhones, smart phones, desk phones, pagers, stereo and video receivers, DVR/CD/DVD/VHS players, video game consoles, cables, stereo speakers, radios, small household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, toaster ovens, coffee makers, blenders, hair dryers, curling irons, clothes irons, and holiday lights.

There is a limit of five items per vehicle. A box measuring 12” x 12” x 12” or a similar container filled with smaller items like computer mice, cables, phones, or cameras will be counted as one item.

Items not accepted include household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, stoves, washers and dryers. Other excluded items are fluorescent light bulbs, smoke alarms, mercury thermostats, household batteries and vehicle batteries, ballasts, light bulbs, smoke detectors, equipment that contains chemicals, asbestos, radioactive components, liquid fuels, microwave glass plates, PCBs, aerosols, or equipment containing mercury.

Hard drive destruction will be available both on-site and off-site upon request and will incur a fee.

Fees for the event are as follows:
– $30 per television (excluding console or projection TVs)
– $65 per console television or projection TV (including those with wooden console or paneling)
– $30 per desktop computer monitor (laptops are free of charge)
– $8.50 per computer hard drive for on-site shredding if removed from computer prior to event
– $21 per computer hard drive for on-site shredding if not removed from computer prior to event
– $13.50 per iPhone or tablet for on-site shredding
– $1.50 per pound for CD/DVD shredding

Payment must be made by credit card; cash and checks will not be accepted.
