Loudoun County homeowners can learn about solar power options for their properties through the Solarize Virginia initiative, which opened its 2026 campaign on April 15. The program aims to make it easier and more affordable for residents to consider solar energy.

Solarize Virginia provides free satellite assessments of homes, offers streamlined installation processes, and gives access to discounted pricing from vetted installers. Although the federal tax credit for residential solar is no longer available, Loudoun property owners may still qualify for the county’s Solar Energy Tax Exemption. Organizers say that installing solar panels can help reduce energy costs, increase home value, and give homeowners greater control over their energy use.

The initiative encourages interested residents to sign up for upcoming virtual information sessions about the 2026 program. These sessions are scheduled at various times throughout the day so more people can participate.

Solarize Virginia is sponsored by the Local Energy Alliance Program in partnership with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and participating municipal governments such as Loudoun County. The current campaign will run until July 15.

More details about Solarize Virginia are available at solarizeva.org. Information on permits required for installing residential or commercial solar photovoltaic systems in Loudoun County can be found at loudoun.gov/SolarPermits.
