Mt. Vernon Avenue to close for crane work between W. Reed and Russell on May 30

Scheduled crane work will take place on Mt. Vernon Avenue between W. Reed Avenue and Russell Road on Saturday, May 30, from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to a May 29 announcement by the City of Alexandria. During this period, traffic will be diverted to Russell Road and W. Glebe Road.

If the crane work is not completed by the end of posted hours on May 30, the road closure will continue overnight, with construction resuming from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

The sidewalk on the west side of Mt. Vernon Avenue will also be closed during construction periods, and all work is expected to be finished within the posted hours.
