According to police, a robbery by force took place at approximately 10:48 p.m. on September 16 in the 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. Officers determined that a male suspect entered a business, took cigarettes from behind the counter without paying, and struck an employee when confronted before fleeing on foot with the merchandise. No injuries were reported. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect, who is described as a Black male, about 35-40 years old, approximately six feet tall, wearing a black hoodie and cream-colored pants. The investigation remains ongoing.
Other incidents listed in the report include destruction of property in the 4200 block of 23rd Street N., shoplifting in the 2800 block of Clarendon Boulevard, and larceny in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike.
Online reports received by police include additional cases such as destruction of property on N. Pierce Street; suspicious circumstances on Richmond Highway and on S. 26th Street; fraud cases on N. 19th Street and Columbia Pike; larcenies from auto and other locations including S. Taylor Street, N. Edison Street, and S. Joyce Street.
The crime report notes that all individuals arrested or charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court and that charges may change during legal proceedings.
