While attempting to arrest him: “the suspect kicked and attempted to disarm an officer while making threatening statements.” Lucas Belcher, 38, of Palmrya, Virginia was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Attempted Disarming of a Law Enforcement Officer and Public Intoxication.
Another robbery occurred on November 8 at approximately 3:57 p.m. in the 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. A male suspect reportedly threatened employees with what appeared to be a box cutter before stealing cell phones from two businesses and fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported; police described the suspect as a Black male about 5’8”, wearing a black hoodie and light blue jeans.
