Rep. Don Beyer, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, recently shared updates and announcements on his official social media account, ranging from community events to legislative initiatives.
On September 18, Beyer invited constituents to attend an upcoming event in Arlington, stating: “I’ll be hosting my ninth annual Women’s Conference and Forum on Monday, October 6 in Arlington! Come hear stories of perseverance, strength, and resilience in the face of the challenges confronting our community today. We’ll see you there! Addressing economic policy the following day, Beyer promoted a legislative proposal aimed at tax equity for wealthy Americans. On September 19 he posted: “Our Billionaire Income Tax Act would prevent the ultra-wealthy from paying a lower tax rate than working families – a crucial and necessary step toward rectifying the shortcomings of the failed trickle-down economics approach. https://t.co/jWPVN8ZM4U”.
Later that same day, Beyer recognized local achievement with a brief congratulatory message: “Congratulations to Alexandria’s very own Noah Lyles! https://t.co/HoQ2hdGTNJ” (September 19).
Beyer has served as the representative for Virginia’s 8th District since succeeding Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and resides in Alexandria. His educational background includes graduating from Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
