The Alexandria Police Department has announced that the remains of Hieu Ngo, a 29-year-old Alexandria resident who was reported missing earlier this month, were found on Thursday morning in Joseph Hensley Park near the Capital Beltway.

Ngo was reported missing to police on December 1. Detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Division worked with his family during the search. Information gathered in the investigation suggested that Ngo may have entered a secluded area near his home with intentions to harm himself.

As a result, police expanded their search efforts in Joseph Hensley Park, receiving assistance from both the Arlington County Police Department and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Ngo’s body was discovered in a wooded section of the park.

Authorities said there is no indication at this time that Ngo’s death is suspicious. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.

The Alexandria Police Department stated: “APD extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Ngo’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We also thank the community members and partner agencies who supported efforts to locate him.”
