Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, addressed several ongoing political issues in a series of posts on September 9, 2025.

In his first post at 18:14 UTC, Beyer commented on recent controversies involving Speaker Johnson and the Jeffrey Epstein case, stating, “Hope this helps clear things up for you @SpeakerJohnson. We know you’re having a lot of trouble sweeping this Epstein stuff under the rug but these wild, bizarre claims are not helping.”

Shortly after, at 18:26 UTC, Beyer highlighted bipartisan efforts to force the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. He wrote, “All House Democrats have now signed @RepThomasMassie & @RepRoKhanna’s discharge petition to force a vote on binding legislation requiring release of the Epstein files. Just four Republicans (including Rep. Massie) have signed:”

At 18:33 UTC, Beyer turned his attention to international affairs and criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to peace negotiations and U.S. policy in the region. He stated, “Netanyahu is so hellbent on sabotaging peace talks designed to stop the killing and free hostages that he is now literally blowing up negotiations.

The U.S. should not support what Israel is doing. Trump is either complicit in this strike and lying, or was played for a fool.”

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in 2015 and currently resides in Alexandria. Born in Trieste in 1950, he graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
