Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, recently addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On July 20, 2025, Beyer commented on proposed Medicaid cuts, stating, “The Medicaid cuts in President Donald Trump’s domestic policy bill could result in more than 1,000 additional deaths every year.”

A day later, on July 21, 2025, Beyer criticized House leadership for not advancing a resolution related to Jeffrey Epstein. He wrote: “Speaker Johnson is not planning to put GOP’s Epstein resolution on floor this week before recess — or possibly ever” And remember: this is just the non-binding resolution that has no practical effect. Republican leaders won’t even give it a vote.

On July 22, 2025, Beyer turned his attention to Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. He stated: “The humanitarian situation in Gaza is horrifying, with frequent aid site massacres and children starving to death. US policy in Gaza must focus on safely surging supplies to starving civilians which will require replacing the failed ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.’”

Beyer has served as the congressional representative for Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria at age 72, he graduated from Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
