Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, recently addressed a range of national issues in a series of posts on his social media account.

On April 1, 2026, Beyer commented on NASA’s latest lunar mission: “For the first time in over 50 years, NASA is launching astronauts on a journey to the moon. They’ll do a lap around the moon to test life support and other systems on the Orion spacecraft to prepare for a future return to the lunar surface. We’re wishing NASA a successful https://t.co/QBIxOa15r5” (April 1, 2026).

Later that day, he responded to legislative developments in Congress regarding Department of Homeland Security funding: “I’m glad to see Speaker Johnson and House Republican leadership accept reality and decide to bring the Senate-passed bill to fund the law-abiding parts of DHS and pay our public servants to the floor. They should bring it up for a vote without delay. https://t.co/LEWQmNMdGS” (April 1, 2026).

In another post from April 1, Beyer criticized efforts by the Trump administration related to federal workforce appointments: “A year ago, DOGE gutted the core of our federal workforce and now the Trump administration is trying to rebuild it with MAGA loyalists. This is a recipe straight out of an authoritarian playbook that will only fuel already rampant corruption and make our country less safe. https://t.co/RyPATQI7Ft” (April 1, 2026).

Beyer has been active in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015 and represents constituents from Virginia’s 8th District. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
