Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, posted a series of updates on December 14, 2025, addressing international tragedy, community events, and healthcare policy.

In his first post at 13:42 UTC, Beyer expressed solidarity with Australia and the global Jewish community following an attack in Sydney: “Horrified by the antisemitic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, Sydney. America stands with the people of Australia and with the Jewish community around the world, and I send my condolences to the victims and their families.”

Later that day at 15:00 UTC, Beyer announced plans for a local event focused on women’s issues: “GOOD NEWS: I’ve rescheduled my annual Women’s Conference! Please join us on Thursday, January 15 in Arlington to hear stories about strength and resilience in the face of the challenges confronting our community today. We’ll see you there! By late afternoon at 17:15 UTC, Beyer addressed domestic policy concerns regarding healthcare reform efforts by Republican lawmakers: “Republicans are trying to make our broken, unaffordable health care system even worse. We can’t let them. I continue to work with my Democratic colleagues to protect access to affordable healthcare and support clinics like the HUB. https://t.co/ZgTBltessw”

Beyer has served as Virginia’s representative since succeeding Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. He is an alumnus of Williams College (class of 1972).
