Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several national issues on his social media account, including U.S.-Saudi relations, the release of Epstein files, and federal action on artificial intelligence.

On November 17, 2025, Beyer commented on former President Donald Trump’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), stating: “No surprise Trump rolled out the red carpet for MBS. The Saudis invested billions in Trump family businesses, so giving Saudi Arabia our most advanced fighter aircraft and maybe a NATO-esque security guarantee is the least he could to pay them back. The corruption is endless.”

The following day, November 18, 2025, Beyer discussed his involvement in efforts to make public documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. He wrote: “I signed the discharge petition to force this vote on releasing the Epstein files, which I strongly support. I woke up today with a bad bug, but would’ve voted yes had my vote been needed for passage. Happy to see it pass nearly unanimously, and I look forward to returning soon.”

On November 19, 2025, Beyer addressed congressional action on artificial intelligence regulation: “Congress has been slow to respond to AI; in the absence of action states are taking the lead to create guardrails and protect the public. Trump’s ban would kill responsible safety reforms to give AI companies a Wild West environment, putting Americans at risk. A terrible idea.”

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since 2015 after succeeding Jim Moran and resides in Alexandria. Born in Trieste in 1950 and a graduate of Williams College (1972), he continues to be active on legislative matters involving transparency and technology policy.
