Rep. Don Beyer, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, recently expressed concerns over several issues involving the current administration. Through a series of tweets, he outlined his positions and actions regarding these matters.

On February 8, 2025, Rep. Don Beyer tweeted about leading Members of Congress to highlight what he described as “the Musk Administration’s illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, and corrupt destruction of USAID.” He shared remarks made before attempting to enter USAID facilities: “On Monday I led Members of Congress shining a light on the Musk Administration’s illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, and corrupt destruction of USAID. Here are my remarks Monday before we sought entry to USAID, in case you missed it.”

Later that day, at 20:19 UTC, Beyer mentioned joining Democrats from the Ways and Means Committee to launch an investigation into Elon Musk’s alleged corruption related to Treasury systems. According to Beyer’s tweet: “Earlier this week I joined @WaysMeansCmte Democrats in launching an investigation into Elon Musk’s corrupt takeover of Treasury systems and access to Americans’ private information. A federal court just put a halt to ‘DOGE’ access at Treasury.”

At 20:31 UTC on the same day, Rep. Beyer addressed public health concerns related to bird flu amidst rising egg prices and availability issues. He criticized the Musk-Trump Administration for undermining scientific agencies’ ability to respond effectively: “Remember this as you see news of bird flu cases spreading and the availability and price of eggs getting worse- bird flu is a serious public health problem and the Musk-Trump Administration is weakening our scientific and medical agencies and preventing them from responding.”
