Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on January 26, 2026, criticizing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and calling for changes to current federal law enforcement practices.

In one post, Beyer stated, “I voted against funding for DHS. Congress shouldn’t pass funding for this lawless agency without major guardrails. And the House should impeach Kristi Noem. 4/4” (January 26, 2026).

He also wrote, “No more occupation. No more assaults on Americans peacefully exercising their rights. No more masked agents. No more warrantless entries. No more mass arrests to fill deportation quotas. 3/” (January 26, 2026).

In another statement from the same day, Beyer said, “ICE, CBP and other DHS personnel must leave Minnesota and other cities where they have been sent to sow division and fear. 2/”

Beyer’s comments come amid ongoing debates over federal immigration enforcement and recent controversies involving DHS activities in various U.S. cities.

Don Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in Congress in 2015 and currently resides in Alexandria. Born in Trieste in 1950 and now aged 72, he graduated from Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
