Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to criticize Republican health care policies and the Trump administration’s actions regarding foreign policy and government operations.
On March 30, 2026, Beyer posted: “After enacting the largest Medicaid cuts in history and allowing health care tax credits to expire so they can pay for tax cuts for the rich, Republicans now want to make further cuts to health care to pay for Trump’s illegal war of choice in Iran. Shameful.
I’ll be voting NO.”
Later that day, he commented on ongoing issues related to a Department of Homeland Security shutdown: “Donald Trump is refusing to negotiate a deal to end the DHS shutdown, end the chaos at airports across country, and pay our public servants.
The American people deserve a president who will do the job of governing, not an erratic ballroom designer.”
On March 31, 2026, Beyer criticized priorities within the current administration: “This tells you everything about this Administration’s priorities. While preparing to send our troops into harm’s way in a half-baked war, Hegseth was working on getting a piece of the pie. Disgusting.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Pete Hegseth must resign or be”
Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
