Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets this week criticizing House Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican leadership for their handling of votes related to the Epstein files.
On July 22, Beyer wrote, “Speaker Mike Johnson is shutting down the House to block any votes on the Epstein files, sending the House into a recess that will last until September. Yes, really: https://t.co/q6g4Lm1pcI https://t.co/Sc9DmVS6qB”.
The following day, July 23, Beyer posted another tweet referencing a member of House Republican leadership: “The Republican Majority Whip, a top member of Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership team: https://t.co/AZGy3FbnRT”.
Later on July 23, he commented further on the situation in Congress: “Discussing the vibes in the House this week as Mike Johnson and Republican leadership cancel votes and recess the House until September rather than hold votes on the Epstein files. https://t.co/2UnxQ6qwFd”.
Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since 2015 after succeeding Jim Moran. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
