Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, recently expressed concerns on social media regarding several economic and political issues affecting American families. Born in Trieste in 1950, Beyer has been active in addressing the interests of his constituents and critiquing national policies.

On May 17, 2025, Rep. Beyer commented on Elon Musk’s statements about Social Security fraud. “As he repeatedly lies about Social Security fraud, Elon Musk is taking a sledgehammer to critical services Americans rely on,” he wrote. Beyer criticized Musk for actions that he believes harm working American families while benefiting billionaires.

The following day, May 18, Beyer addressed the issue of carried interest loopholes after an unsuccessful amendment proposal. He stated: “After Donald Trump spent the last year promising to fight for regular people, every single Republican voted against my amendment to close the carried interest loophole.” He argued that this demonstrated a preference for billionaire interests over those of regular citizens.

Later that day, Rep. Beyer shared a CNN report highlighting economic impacts related to tariffs. He quoted: “CNN: There’s no denying it now: Tariffs are raising prices”, indicating concerns over rising costs attributed to tariff policies.

Don Beyer’s tenure in Congress has been marked by his focus on fiscal responsibility and advocacy for working families’ needs amidst ongoing national policy debates.
