Rep. Don Beyer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media presence. His recent tweets address concerns about trade policies, transparency in government dealings, and ethical conduct within federal offices.

On March 11, 2025, Rep. Beyer expressed criticism of Republican actions regarding trade tariffs. He stated that “Republicans are handing over Congress’s power to revoke Trump’s tariffs, giving his trade war their stamp of approval.” He emphasized the impact of these tariffs on consumer prices by saying that they exacerbate high costs for groceries and housing.

The following day, March 12, 2025, Rep. Beyer addressed a vote by his Republican colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee concerning transparency in financial inquiries involving Elon Musk. He remarked that “Every single one of my Republican Ways and Means colleagues just voted to oppose much-needed transparency into why and how Musk has sought treasury payment information and American’s sensitive data.” Beyer questioned the lack of transparency if no laws were broken.

Later on March 12, 2025, Rep. Beyer announced an investigation into potential legal violations by employees related to financial conflicts of interest. He tweeted that ““DOGE” employees may face criminal exposure for violating laws about financial conflicts of interest.” This investigation involves collaboration with other representatives including @RepRaskin and @JoaquinCastrotx.
