Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, voiced criticism of the Trump administration and House Republicans in a series of tweets posted on April 29, 2026.

In his first tweet at 15:42 UTC, Beyer commented on proposed policy changes affecting disabled Americans, stating, “This is just horrid and cruel. After racing to hand out massive tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, the Trump administration is now looking to punish disabled Americans for relying on family support.”

Later that day at 17:03 UTC, Beyer addressed recent legislative efforts related to environmental protection: “For many species, the Endangered Species Act is the difference between extinction and survival. Last week, House Republicans chose Earth Day to try to gut it, but they didn’t have the votes. This is a win for wildlife, but it’s not the end of our fight!”

At 18:31 UTC on April 29, Beyer criticized actions taken during an ongoing conflict involving Iran: “Hegseth gutted the team meant to prevent civilian death. One of the first strikes in this war hit an elementary school. And President Trump continues to threaten Iranian civilians and infrastructure. This administration isn’t minimizing civilian harm.”

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in Congress in 2015 and resides in Alexandria. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
