Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s approach to foreign aid and health care in a series of posts published on December 8 and 9, 2025.
On December 8, Beyer posted, “Donald Trump dismantled USAID and illegally froze programs that distribute lifesaving aid. These cuts have had global repercussions – and children are dying because of it.”
The following day, he shared two links without additional comment: “https://t.co/QdkNhBwfr2 https://t.co/tgaSmbIrgx” (December 9).
Later on December 9, Beyer criticized Republican health care proposals by stating, “The Republican ‘health care plan’ does not stop catastrophic health care cost increases. It’s a plan to raise prices for the American people by sabotaging the Affordable Care Act.”
Beyer, who was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria, has served as Virginia’s representative in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College (1972). Throughout his tenure in Congress, Beyer has been vocal on issues related to international aid and domestic health policy.
