Rep. Don Beyer, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, expressed concerns about the state of governance and ethics in a series of tweets on February 11 and 12, 2025. Beyer, born in Trieste and currently residing in Alexandria, Virginia, shared his thoughts on corruption during Trump’s presidency and issues related to federal civil service under the Musk-Trump Administration.

In a tweet posted on February 11, Beyer criticized the Trump administration for what he described as a “Golden Era — for corruption.” He stated that Trump “fired independent watchdogs who investigate waste, fraud, and illegal activity,” along with other officials responsible for whistleblower protection and government ethics. “He fired independent watchdogs who investigate waste, fraud, and illegal activity.”

Later that day, Beyer tweeted about an oversight hearing by the Ways and Means Committee regarding the IRS.
