Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on his official Twitter account criticizing recent political and economic developments involving former President Donald Trump and the appointment of Bill Pulte.
On June 1, 2026, Beyer addressed ongoing legal proceedings related to Trump’s actions by stating, “You don’t get credit for complying with a temporary court order. Trump’s scheme to rob American taxpayers won’t be dead until Congress bans it.”
Later that same day, Beyer commented on the impact of global events on American finances: “As of May 16th, the bigger tax refunds Americans have received this year no longer cover the higher costs of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel caused by the war.”
On June 2, 2026, Beyer expressed concern about Bill Pulte’s qualifications for a key national security role: “This is insane. Bill Pulte has no business being anywhere near intelligence or national security. His main qualification seems to be a willingness to misuse private information to pursue spurious attacks on Trump’s perceived enemies. Imagine what he’s planning to do as DNI.”
Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Jim Moran in 2015. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria at age 72, he holds a BA from Williams College earned in 1972.
