Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, made several statements on his Twitter account on February 2, 2026, addressing political and law enforcement transparency issues.
In one post published at 19:18 UTC, Beyer wrote, “Donald Trump is the most corrupt president in American history and it is not remotely close.”
Later that day at 22:05 UTC, Beyer commented on the handling of body camera footage related to a recent incident in Minnesota: “The ‘most transparent administration in American history’ has had body camera footage of the murder of Alex Pretti for a week and a half, they locked it up in an FBI field office without allowing Minnesota authorities to access it for their investigation”.
At 22:15 UTC, Beyer highlighted legislative efforts regarding police accountability tools: “Body cameras are an effective transparency tool IF they are used correctly. The bill @EleanorNorton and I introduced mandates body cameras for all federal officers AND ensures they are used properly, with requirements for retention and access of footage.”
Beyer was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. He graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972. He succeeded Jim Moran as representative of Virginia’s 8th district in Congress.
