Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account on February 20, 2026, addressing recent actions by former President Trump and their potential impact on his constituents.

.

Later that day, at 19:16 UTC, Beyer commented on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding tariffs imposed during Trump’s administration and announced legislative efforts in response. He wrote: “The Supreme Court rightly struck down Trump’s tariffs as illegal taxes, but now he’s responding by imposing new tariffs that could even be higher.

Congress can stop this.

I joined @RepJimmyPanetta and other colleagues to introduce legislation that would BLOCK these tariffs. https://t.co/WoAi2mQ8Ho“.

At 21:25 UTC the same day, Beyer expressed concern about a proposed project by Trump near Arlington National Cemetery and its effect on Northern Virginia residents. He stated: “My parents and my sister are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Trump’s latest vanity boondoggle would tower over this sacred national space, and cause major disruptions for my Northern Virginia constituents. This monstrosity is plainly illegal under current law. https://t.co/7yfeu41iwj”.

Don Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since 2015 after succeeding Jim Moran. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
