On April 10, 2025, Beyer posted, “President Donald Trump’s tariffs could have a pandemic-sized shock on U.S. small businesses, and they’re landing as his administration scales back resources meant to help an increasingly embattled Main Street.” He highlights the economic strain being imposed on small businesses by these tariffs, particularly emphasizing the timing as support resources are being reduced.
The following day, April 11, Beyer continued his critique, stating, “Congress must stop the madness.” He announced collaborating with Rep. Linda Sánchez and other colleagues in the Ways and Means Committee to introduce legislation aimed at repealing Trump’s tariffs.
