Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, shared several updates on social media regarding significant local and national developments. Born in Trieste in 1950 and a graduate of Williams College, Beyer has been active in advocating for workers’ rights and educational initiatives.

On May 18, 2025, Rep. Beyer congratulated nearly 12,000 Fairfax County employees who secured a seat at the negotiating table to advocate for improved pay, benefits, and working conditions alongside SEIU Virginia 512. He described this development as “a huge win for workers rights.”

In another post on the same day, Beyer commemorated the 60th anniversary of President Johnson’s creation of Head Start, a program designed to provide low-income children with essential tools for success.

Later that evening, Beyer expressed his condolences over two fatalities resulting from Friday night’s storm on or near George Washington Memorial Parkway. He noted that he had been in contact with Parkway leadership and informed the public that the roadway from Bellevue Blvd to Alexandria Ave would remain closed through Monday morning rush hour.

Beyer continues to be an influential figure in Congress, advocating for various issues affecting his constituents and beyond.
