Rep. Don Beyer, currently serving as the U.S. Congressman for Virginia’s 8th District, conveyed his thoughts on various topical issues through social media posts on March 31, 2025. Beyer has been representing this district since his election in 2015, following in the footsteps of Jim Moran. Throughout his political career, Beyer has expressed keen interest in human rights, infrastructure, and legal affairs, among other topics.

On March 31, 2025, Congressman Beyer marked Trans Day of Visibility with a social media post, communicating solidarity with the transgender community. He stated, “It’s Trans Day of Visibility, a day where we celebrate the trans people in our community and stand with them in solidarity. I see you and I respect you.”

In another post on March 31, 2025, Beyer touched on a recent near-miss aviation incident at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. He shared that he is monitoring the situation closely, noting, “I have been closely following developments on Friday’s loss of separation air incident near DCA, and have requested updates from the Airport Authority and the Air Force.” He also highlighted his respect for the Arlington National Cemetery, describing it as, “a powerful symbol of honor, sacrifice.”

Further, Beyer commented on actions by former President Trump and Elon Musk involving the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He asserted his legal stance against their actions stating, “From the moment they did it I have argued everywhere I can that what Trump and Musk have done at USAID is completely illegal. We are fighting in court to defend this vital agency and its workers, who have done so much to save lives and build American influence around the world.” Beyer’s engagement in this matter reflects his commitment to upholding legal standards and defending federal agencies.
