U.S. Congressman Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district, posted a series of tweets on October 17, 2025, including a tribute to the late journalist Susan Stamberg and an announcement about his upcoming public appearance.

In his first post at 18:04 UTC, Beyer wrote, “See you out there tomorrow! #NoKings [Photo by @pennstatetom] https://t.co/IiERPTgeoO”.

Later that day, at 18:51 UTC, he commented on the passing of Susan Stamberg: “RIP Susan Stamberg, a trailblazer and one of the all time greats. https://t.co/7cx0tjlO1m”. Shortly after, at 18:53 UTC, Beyer expanded on her legacy in another tweet: “Susan Stamberg opened doors for women in journalism, and helped demonstrate the importance and power of public media. Sending my best to Susan’s family and loved ones as we all mourn her loss.”

Beyer has served in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Jim Moran as representative for Virginia’s 8th district. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
