Rep. Don Beyer, U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing issues ranging from federal appointments to foreign policy and economic conditions.

On June 3, 2026, Beyer criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s suitability for leading the Department of Health and Human Services, writing, “RFK Jr. is completely unfit to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Not only is he wholly incompetent, but his attacks against mental healthcare directly contradict modern science and evidence-based medical practices that millions rely on.”

Later that same day, Beyer commented on recent congressional action regarding military engagement in Iran. He stated, “NEW: 4 Republicans just joined all Democrats to pass an Iran War Powers Resolution and put an end to this reckless, illegal war. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this swiftly. Ending this war is a moral imperative.” The remarks followed bipartisan support for legislative measures seeking to curtail ongoing U.S. involvement in Iran.

On June 4, 2026, Beyer reflected on economic trends during a Ways and Means Committee hearing with Secretary Scott Bessent. He wrote, “A year ago in @WaysMeansCmte, I asked @SecScottBessent about our economy under President Trump. Since then, unemployment has risen. Inflation is up too, with prices outpacing wages. This administration might not care, but the American people do.”

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since succeeding Jim Moran in 2015 and resides in Alexandria.[1] Born in Trieste in 1950,[2] he holds a BA from Williams College.[3]
