Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, has recently expressed his views on social media regarding various political and social issues.

On May 10, 2025, Beyer criticized the current administration’s approach to employment within federal agencies. He stated that the administration is “so dedicated to cruelty and chaos that they don’t care who they fire,” noting that even federal employees working towards border security have been dismissed, despite it being one of former President Trump’s policy goals. “This administration is so dedicated to cruelty and chaos that they don’t care who they fire. They’ve even fired federal employees that work to ensure we have a secure border, one of Trump’s stated policy goals.”

The following day, on May 11, 2025, Beyer extended warm wishes for Mother’s Day. He conveyed his appreciation with a message saying “With much love and gratitude to all the wonderful moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day!”

Later on May 11, Beyer addressed economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by former President Trump. He asserted that these tariffs are causing significant harm to American families while benefiting wealthy individuals associated with Trump. He remarked on the perceived corruption and suggested Republican lawmakers could intervene if desired: “Trump’s tariffs are inflicting massive harm upon working American families, and all so he can further enrich himself and his billionaire buddies… Just brazenly corrupt – but Republicans still have the power to stop this if they wanted to.”

Don Beyer was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. He graduated from Williams College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
