The School Board approved on March 26 a change to the 2025-26 school year calendar, designating April 21 as a no-school day for students due to a special election expected to draw high voter turnout across the Commonwealth.

This adjustment is important because many Arlington Public Schools facilities will be used as polling locations during the special election. The need for public access to these buildings during instructional hours would disrupt normal operations and affect the ability of Arlington Public Schools to maintain a secure environment for students and staff.

According to the decision, April 21, 2026, will now be a no-school day for all students. In addition, it will serve as a Countywide Professional Learning Day for all staff members.

The full school calendar is available online. Community members are also encouraged to sync the Arlington Public Schools calendar with their personal calendars by visiting the Calendar page and using the “Subscribe to Calendar” feature.

These changes reflect efforts by school officials to ensure student safety while accommodating civic participation during elections.
