The George L. Gordon, Jr. Government Center in Stafford County is serving as a collection site for the annual Marine Toys for Tots drive. Community members are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys by placing them in the bin located in the lobby at 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Donations will be accepted until December 9, 2025. The center operates from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Last year, the Quantico Marine Toys for Tots drive distributed 146,503 toys to 134,346 children in the region. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has been running this program for 75 years and has provided more than 627 million toys to 281 million children since its inception. According to the organization, “The primary mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.”

Stafford County Public Schools District enrolled 31,700 students during the 2023-24 school year, reflecting a slight increase from the previous year’s total of 31,160 students (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Among these schools, Brooke Point High School had the highest enrollment with 2,242 students (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). White students made up the largest ethnic group in county schools with 12,332 students or about 38.9% of total enrollment; Hispanic students followed with approximately one-quarter of all students (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home).

In addition to donating toys at the government center, residents can support Toys for Tots by hosting special events with Marines or becoming local drop sites. Volunteer opportunities are also available and donations can be made online. More information can be found at https://quantico-va.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/Default.aspx.
