Patent office approves 3 patents for Alexandria innovators in week ending Aug. 15

Patent 18

There were three patents granted in Alexandria in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is three less than the week before. Patents included an ignition source adapted for positioning within a combustion chamber.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 15 belonged to Warren Engine Company, Inc. who filed in Feb. 24, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
