The City of Alexandria has announced a series of community engagement events and a listening tour for the proposed Entertainment District at Potomac Yard. These events aim to gather input from Alexandria residents, civic and organizational leaders, and other stakeholders to shape the vision for the project.
"We know Alexandria residents are – rightfully – proud of their city. The City and all partners involved in the Potomac Yard Development Project are committed to listening to and understanding the needs and concerns of the community," said a representative from the City. "Project partners will participate alongside the City throughout this process with the shared goal of bringing to life a collective vision for Potomac Yard and creating exceptional experiences and regional economic growth for decades to come."
The community engagement events and listening tour sessions will include project briefings, updates, pop-up events, site tours, and other opportunities for residents to contribute their ideas and feedback. The City is eager to listen to and engage with Alexandria and the surrounding communities.
The upcoming engagement events and opportunities include biweekly public updates, virtual listening series, a City Council Town Hall, civic and business organization briefings, pop-up events, site tours, and staff liaisons assigned to neighborhoods for ongoing engagement.
The biweekly public updates will be shared during City Council legislative meetings, starting on Tuesday, January 9, and continuing every other Tuesday until March 26. These updates will provide new information about the project, upcoming engagement opportunities, reports from the General Assembly, and more.
The City of Alexandria will also hold a weekly virtual listening series starting on Thursday, January 18. These sessions, held on Thursday nights from 7-8 p.m., will cover various topics such as the financial proposal and economic impact, schools, housing, and other community benefits, transportation and traffic management, and small business and economic opportunity.
On Saturday, January 27, City Council will host a Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. This event will include a short presentation on the project and Councilmembers answering community questions, concerns, and feedback.
The City will also work with civic and business organizations to coordinate project presentations and listening sessions to gather community input. Pop-up events will be held in high-traffic areas such as Farmers Markets to answer questions and take comments. Additionally, pre-scheduled site tours will be announced for residents to view and understand the area being developed as part of the proposal.

The City of Alexandria is dedicated to ensuring that the community's voice is heard and that all residents have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Potomac Yard Entertainment District.
