The City of Alexandria is inviting individuals and organizations to participate in the Green Building Policy Advisory Group, which will explore updates to the city's current Green Building Policy. City Manager James Parajon has officially established the group and is encouraging interested parties to apply by completing the Green Building Advisory Group Application by January 19.
The Advisory Group will consist of representatives from various sectors including the Environmental Policy Commission, the Planning Commission, an affordable housing resident or representative, an environmental justice group, an architect, a general contractor, a building ecology professional, up to two large-scale developers, an affordable housing developer, a residential home builder, a land use attorney, and a representative from the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).
These representatives will provide valuable insights on topics to be considered for inclusion in the updated Green Building Policy. They will review presentations and case studies, sharing their priorities, opportunities, and challenges within each topic.
The Office of Climate Action, in partnership and consultation with Planning & Zoning, Housing, Code Administration, General Services, and the Office of the City Attorney, will finalize the update of the Green Building Policy. This initiative is part of the City's Interdepartmental Long Range Planning Work Program.
