Registration is now open for the next Condominium and Community Association Training session in the City of Alexandria. The training is aimed at homeowners, property managers, and interested buyers of common interest communities such as condominiums, townhomes, and cooperatives. The City of Alexandria, in collaboration with Mercer Trigiani, an Alexandria-based law firm, is sponsoring a series of workshops throughout FY2024.

The main goal of these educational sessions is to provide valuable information to homeowners and homebuyers about the structure and governance of common interest communities. The workshops also aim to strengthen the knowledge of community board members in areas such as understanding, managing, and budgeting. Additionally, the sessions will help communities understand state laws related to open meetings and governance.

These educational sessions are being offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required. The third session of the series, titled "Managing Common Interest Community Conflicts," will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 9:30 am. We are pleased to announce that Heather Gillespie, the former Virginia Common Interest Community Ombudsman, will be a special guest at this session.

To register for the training, interested individuals can visit the provided link. There will be one more session in 2024, scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The topic for this session will be "Accessibility Requirements for Common Interest Communities."

The City of Alexandria recognizes the significance of condominiums as an affordable homeownership option, particularly for first-time homebuyers. The city aims to broaden awareness of community association management to strengthen and preserve these valuable housing resources for the future.
