The University of Mary Washington Stafford Campus voting precinct will be temporarily relocated for the April 21, 2026, Special Election, according to a March 23 announcement. Voters from Precinct 103 – College are directed to cast their ballots at Rocky Run Elementary School, located at 95 Reservoir Road in Fredericksburg.
This change affects voters who usually vote on the university campus and aims to ensure all eligible residents can participate in the upcoming special election. Early voting is available at a different location: 124 Old Potomac Church Road, Suite 205, Stafford. Early voting hours run Monday through Friday from March 6 through April 17, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as well as on two Saturdays—April 11 and April 18—from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be no early voting at the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center or on Monday, April 20.
Mail-in ballots can be requested online or by contacting the Voter Registrar’s Office before the deadline of April 10 at 5:00 p.m. The Registrar’s Office is also available by phone for questions about these temporary changes.
Rocky Run Elementary School was selected as the new polling site after enrolling more kindergarten students than any other school in Stafford County during the last academic year; it welcomed a total of 148 kindergarten students, accounting for about seven percent of all kindergartners countywide.
Stafford County Public Schools District remains the only school district in Stafford County and reported an enrollment of 31,700 students during the past school year. This represented an increase of nearly two percent compared with enrollment totals from one year earlier according to state data.
White students made up almost thirty-nine percent of local public school enrollment while Hispanic students accounted for nearly twenty-five percent according to official figures. Brooke Point High School had the highest student body among Stafford’s thirty-two schools with over two thousand enrolled last year as reported by education authorities. Meanwhile, Rising Star Early Childhood Education Center at Melchers led pre-kindergarten enrollments countywide with just under three hundred children attending classes there according to state records.
Voters are encouraged to confirm their polling locations and reach out if they have questions regarding these adjustments ahead of Election Day.
