Arlington company Boeing Co. (BA:NYQ) working in Industrials sees value fall 18.4% on Sept. 29

Value in Industrials stocks fell 1.2 percent on Sept. 29 from the previous day.

The strongest performing Industrials company in Virginia was Luna Innovations Inc. (LUNA:NAQ), sitting 890,755.8 percent higher to sell at $4.6.

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC:NYQ) fared the worst among Virginia companies, suffering a 99.9 percent drop to $470.48.

Among Arlington companies, Boeing Co. (BA:NYQ) saw the biggest fall in value of 18.4 percent on Sept. 29.

The Energy sector was the daily best-performing sector on the market.

Consumer Staples was the worst-performing sector.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
