The City Council has taken steps to examine short-term rentals, such as those offered by Airbnb, and is considering additional regulations. Earlier this year, the council tasked staff with studying these rentals and providing recommendations if further regulation is deemed necessary.

Community members are encouraged to engage in the process by watching an 18-minute video that explains the background, benefits, and impacts of short-term rentals. The video also outlines proposed new policies aimed at addressing common concerns associated with these types of accommodations.

Following the viewing of the video, residents can share their feedback through an online form. This input will assist city staff in refining policy recommendations. The deadline for submitting feedback is September 15.

For more information and engagement opportunities, individuals can visit the project website. Those requiring reasonable disability accommodation can contact Alicia Chase via email at Alicia.Chase@alexandriava.gov or call 703-746-3831. Virginia Relay services are available at 711. Additionally, free interpretation and translation services are offered for those who prefer communication in another language by emailing LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or calling 703-746-3960.
