Americans for Prosperity issued the following announcement on Jan. 13
Today the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision blocking the administration’s mandate and providing relief for employers and employees. The rule, announced last fall by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), compelled private businesses with over 100 workers to require their employees all get vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis. Americans For Prosperity president and CEO Emily Seidel issued the following comment:
OSHA’s mandate is unlawful, and today’s ruling confirms that. Vaccines are a crucial component of protecting people from COVID. But government-imposed mandates – both for and against vaccines – only play into polarizing and eroding trust in public health. The court’s ruling confirms that such a sweeping mandate is outside of the agency’s proper role. States and employers are better positioned to handle workplace safety and address COVID. And if the FDA would act with the urgency Americans deserve and approve more tests and life-saving therapeutics, people would be able to protect themselves even more.
