Inova's Advanced Lung Disease team has joined 22 other major health systems as part of the newly formed Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research Clinic Alliance. The group brings together care sites committed to finding a cure and offering evidence-based care to improve the lives of those living with this rare condition.
Sarcoidosis can affect any organ in the body, most typically the lungs and skin, but also the heart, brain, eyes and immune system. It can change the normal structure and possibly functioning of the impacted organs.
Inova’s Sarcoidosis program offers a comprehensive approach with multidisciplinary input from Pulmonary, Cardiology, Neurology, and Rheumatology experts. Sarcoidosis is one of several highly specialized lung conditions treated as part of Inova's Advanced Lung Disease Services based on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Inova’s Sarcoidosis Program is designated as a World Association of Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders (WASOG) Clinic.
