Sheriff Sean Casey has announced that applications are now being accepted for the upcoming spring session of the Sheriff's Office Academy in Alexandria. The program is available at no cost to individuals aged 18 and over who either reside or work within the city. Interested participants must submit their applications by Friday, February 21.

The academy's spring session will be held on four consecutive Saturday mornings, from March 1 to March 22, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Sheriff's Community Academy aims to inform community members about the role of the Sheriff's Office in the local justice system and its public safety services. The curriculum includes a mix of presentations and interactive sessions covering topics such as jail operations, judicial and special operations, civil process and warrant service, along with inmate services and programs. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour both the Adult Detention Center and the Alexandria Courthouse while engaging in hands-on activities.

Further information about the academy and application details can be found at alexandriava.gov/academies.

For any inquiries regarding the Sheriff's Community Academy, Lieutenant Victor Ignacio can be contacted via email at victor.ignacio@alexandriava.gov or by phone at 703.746.5013.
