This morning, at 10:09 a.m., the Alexandria Fire and Police Departments were called to the unit block of West Mount Ida Avenue following a report of an apparent electrocution incident.

Upon arrival, first responders found an unresponsive arborist. Preliminary investigations indicated that a branch from the tree he was trimming came into contact with a live power line.

Dominion Power arrived to help clear the electrical hazard. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene, and detectives are in the process of notifying next of kin.
